Remnants - Part 1

REMNANTS - PART 1

To begin the project titled 'Remnants' I took a trip to Weston sea front to take photographs of remnants that could be found. I found a wall that was covered in graffiti, but had been left for some time so the paint was beginning to fade and peel in areas. I loved the idea of remnants of paint that had been worn away and were weathered.

From these photos I then began to create drawings, experimenting with how the peeling paint could be replicated and marks could be made. I traced the line of the bottom photo, using a continuous line. I then developed this line into a screen and began to explore how surfaces could be created using this abstracted line.
